Description
El Penedés is a territory with original domination located in the province of Tarragona. Here the production of the best cava in the world predominates, as well as red, white and rosé wines.
El Montmell is a natural park located in the lower Penedés, where Montmell Castle is located, of which only a few small ruins of the rectangular tower remain. Nearby are the remains of the old church of San Miguel, which has a single nave and a barrel vault. It was built in the 11th century.
The Can Marlés winery, with DO, located in the heart of the Montmell Natural Park, stands out for its 100% organic wines. Three types of wine and one type of cava are extracted from its hundred-year-old vines.
One of its great attractions is its friendly alpacas from Peru, with which visitors can interact.
Itinerary
Once we arrive at the Can Marlés winery, we will start walking along a path that will take us through leafy forests characterized by their traditional coastal machinery and beautiful holm oaks. We will arrive at the church of Sant Miquel, of Romanesque style and dated in the 11th century, which we will be able to visit inside. From the church we can contemplate the wonderful views of the Montmell natural park and relax by eating something to recover our strength.
On the way down we will visit the vineyards of the Can Marlés farm, where they will show us their funny alpacasfrom Peru and show us the winery. Once we have visited the estate, the time will come to taste its excellent 100% organic wines, where we will be welcomed with a wonderful pairing to accompany the wines.
Once the wine tasting is over, we will move on to lunch. We will take you to a classic Catalan farmhouse so that you can taste the typical food of the area.
