The famous journey that runs through Aigüestortes National Park


High mountain circular route that connects the 9 refuges of Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici, Pallars. Alta Ribagorça and Vall d’Aran, share one of the most beautiful spots in the area and is a must-see for experienced mountaineers and nature lovers. Granite blocks, quarries and steep roads that save a cumulative unevenness of 4,200 m and a distance of 72 km.

An experience that includes 5 stages in 5 days and 4 nights, classified as medium difficulty as long as you have the habit of walking in the mountains and as long as you are in good physical condition.


Day 1:
Meeting at the Cavallers dam with the guide. Introduction and revision of equipment.
Estany de Cavallers (1,800 m) – Ventosa y Calvell Shelter (2,200 m) – Colomers Shelter (2,135 m)
Distance: 12 km | Difference in altitude: + 750m / -550m | Estimated time: 6 – 8h

Day 2:
Colomers Shelter (2,135m) – Saboredo Shelter (2,299m) – D’Amitges Shelter (2,378m)
Distance: 12.3 km | Altitude difference: + 820m / -400m | Estimated time: 6 – 7h

Day 3:
Refugio d´Amitges (2.378 m) – Refugio J.M.Blanc (2.326 m)
Distance: 14.5 km | Difference in altitude: + 950m / -920m | Estimated time: 6 – 7h

Day 4:
J.M.Blanc Shelter (2,326m) – Estany Llong Shelter (1,985m)
Distance: 18 km | Difference in altitude: + 800m / -1.00m | Estimated time: 7 – 8h

Day 5:
Estany Llong Shelter (1,985m) – Estany de Cavallers (1,800m)
Distance: 14.5 km | Difference in altitude: + 900m / -1.200m | Estimated time: 7 – 8h

Option B: If the weather is not good or some participant of the group is tired or if you are no sure of being capable of completing this last stage, you can easily descend a well marked path until you reach a place where you can take a bus, putting thus an end to the trekking.

Physical difficulty: Medium. Route suitable for people with a good physical preparation who practice sports frequently or are used to hiking for several days with significant unevenness. It is recommended to have made a route of several days previously.

Essential individual equipment:

  • Clothing: It is essential to wear mountain clothing to carry out the route (raincoat, windbreaker, warm clothing, breathable and comfortable clothing, long pants and mountain socks, high-topped mountain boots to protect ankles, gloves, neck warmer and hat. Spare clothes to get changed in the shelters.
  • For the rain: Waterproof poncho and waterproof backpack cover.
  • For the sun: Sunglasses, sun cream, lip protection and hat.
  • Backpack: Suitable mountain backpack. Front or flashlight. Canteen. A sheet sleeping bag (there are blankets in the shelters). Bath towel. Swimsuit (optional). Ear plugs for nights in shelters (optional).
  • Telescopic walking sticks.

Food: For the first day bring food and drink from home. Picnic bags will be provided  in the shelters for dinners, breakfasts and lunches.

Profile of the guide who will carry out the activity: Qualified mountain guide with extensive experience in the sector. Knowledge of flora, fauna and geology of the environment.


It includes:

  • Travel management and reservations
  • Mountain guide service throughout the trekking.
  • 4 nights in mountain huts on a half board basis.
  • Accident, rescue and RC insurance.

 Does not include:

  • Transportation (check the option to share travel expenses with other participants who travel from your area).
  • Drinks are not included in the shelter menu.
  • Picnics


  • A minimum number of people is required to make the journey. In the event that this minimum is not met, customers will be offered an alternative date, another tour, or a full refund.
  • The journey may be affected due to special or climatic circumstances.
